Objectives
Course Principals:
(1) Help students to understand the underlying principals and causes in daily life, and to provide useful guidance to help students comprehensively understand the current issues in our society and country.
(2) Help student to develop the ability of ‘learning to learn’. Learn to analysis from the economic perspective, cultivate the problem-solving skill and critical thinking ability. Strive to become a lifelong learner and be prepared for the Knowledgeable Society.
Course Aims:
The course aims to help students:
(1) Develop the ability to investigate human behaviours from an economic perspective, cultivate the interests of social issues.
(2) Understand the basic concepts of Economy and the world.
(3) Acquire the economic analytic ability and equip with the ability to inference and make rational choices among different issues, and hence enhance ability of lifelong learning.
(4) Grow to become a knowledgeable and responsible citizen, participate the decision-making process in the modern democratic society.
Course Introduction:
(1) Core Subjects:
Basic Economic Concepts, Firms and Production, Market and Price, Competition and Market Structure, Efficiency, Equity and the role of the Government, Measurement on Economic Performance, National Income Determination and Price Level, Money and Banking, Macroeconomic Problems and Policies, International Trade and Finance.
(2) Elective Subjects:
Elective Part 2: Extension of Trade Theory, Economic Growth and Development.
